For the benefit of works of the air. 1f.50+3f.50
Issued in 1942 for the benefit of air works, this stamp was designed and engraved by Henry Cheffer. It illustrates three aircraft in flight, the identification of which has been the subject of expert debate. If some catalogs may have mentioned the Lioré and Olivier LeO-451 bomber, technical analyzes and testimonies from war pilots indicate that it is more likely to be the Potez 63-11, a three-seater reconnaissance aircraft. A visual detail supports this thesis: the presence of the rear wheel visible in flight, a characteristic specific to the Potez.
