This stamp pays tribute to the clothing heritage and regional culture of Gabès, illustrating with refinement the rich traditions of southern Tunisia. Through the brush of artist Jalal Ben Abdallah, the illustration features a woman adorned in her traditional costume, including the brightly colored “houli” and her characteristic jewelry, while carrying a jar, a centuries-old symbol of water management and daily life in this maritime oasis environment. This program is part of a desire to preserve and promote national identity, where textile craftsmanship and ornaments become ambassadors of ancestral know-how. The message conveyed is that of the dignity and sustainability of local customs, anchoring the modernity of the Tunisian Republic in the recognition of its cultural diversity and its unique folkloric heritage.
