6th Maghreb medical day
This stamp commemorates the 6th Maghreb Medical Days, held in Tunis from May 4 to 10, 1970. This major scientific event underlines the desire for cooperation and exchange of knowledge between health professionals in North Africa at a pivotal time of regional construction. The composition features a stylized profile wearing a headdress decorated with the red crescent, the universal symbol of care, assistance and medicine in the Arab world, thus affirming the central role of health services in the development of modern societies.
The iconography revolves around an arm holding the staff of Aesculapius, an ancient emblem of medicine, surmounted by a radiant sun which symbolizes life and knowledge. The sleeve of this arm is made up of a stack of flags of the Maghreb nations, illustrating solidarity and the union of regional medical forces for the progress of public health. By devoting this issue to this meeting, the Republic promotes science as a bridge between peoples and a lever for integration, making this stamp a witness to the Tunisian commitment to excellence and the sharing of medical expertise in the service of populations.
