International Year of the Child

In 1979, Tunisia fully associated itself with the International Year of the Child decreed by the UN, issuing stamps which emphasize the rights and security of the youngest. One illustrates road safety (by Aïcha Filali), showing the importance of civic education from school onwards, while the other, signed Gorgi, celebrates childhood through dreamlike imagery combining education (the book) and nature. These broadcasts demonstrate a strong political will to place the future of new generations at the heart of national priorities, by harmonizing international standards with local artistic sensitivity.
