Tunisian jewelry. The Fibula - Khallal
This program features a close-up of a monumental chiseled silver fibula, called Khallal, used to drape the "Melwita" or the "Haik". The jewelry is decorated with engraved motifs — often fish, birds or geometric signs — intended to bring luck and fertility. In the background, a curved female silhouette suggests the daily wear of these objects which combine practical utility and symbolic prestige. It is a tribute to rural and Berber goldsmithing, where silver predominates over gold and where the shape of the triangle and circle recalls protective ancestral beliefs.
