World Philatelic Exhibition "Pacific 97"
This stamp commemorates Tunisia's participation in the PACIFIC 97 world philatelic exhibition organized in San Francisco. Insaf Guezguez Jellazi's design is very graphic: he juxtaposes the famous Golden Gate Bridge with a mosaic of traditional Tunisian motifs (flag, architecture of Sidi Bou Saïd, carpet).
This visual creates a symbolic bridge between the East and the West. By integrating elements of Tunisian heritage into a composition celebrating an American metropolis, Tunisia asserts its presence on the international cultural scene and uses the stamp as an ambassador of its own visual identity.
