Ancient Ceramic (“Methred” Cup from the 17th century AD)
This triangular stamp features a magnificent ceramic cup from Qallaline. The polychrome floral decoration (yellow, green and blue) is characteristic of this artistic craft which flourished in Tunis during the Ottoman era, influenced by Andalusian techniques.
Qallaline is the historic pottery district of the Medina. This stamp celebrates the renaissance of Tunisian decorative arts in the 17th century and the know-how of master ceramists whose tiles still adorn the country's most beautiful palaces and mosques.
