The traditional dress of the bride of Matmata, in southern Tunisia,
is an emblematic Berber costume characterized by a large woolen drape (often black or dark), the houli, decorated with geometric patterns in white cotton, complemented by a red shawl, the bakhnoug, decorated with similar patterns and silver threads, covering the head and shoulders.
