The gold Khlel (clasp or fibula) is part of a series of stamps from the Tunisian Post issued on May 18, 2006, entitled "Jewellery and Jewels of the Punic and Roman Eras". Used since Antiquity as a clasp or safety pin, it was used to attach clothing such as tunics, veils or coats.
Although often made of bronze or iron, versions intended for elites were fashioned in gold or silver, indicating high social status.
Style and Heritage:

Jewelry from this period, such as those found in Carthage (6th century BC), often feature symbolic or protective motifs (animal heads, astral symbols).
