Mahmoud Messadi (1911-2004)

This visual is dedicated to Mahmoud Messadi (1911-2004), one of the greatest figures of Arabic letters and contemporary Tunisian thought. He is seen reading from his literary masterpiece, The Dam (Al-Sudd), a major philosophical work on the human condition and creation. Also a statesman and Minister of Education, Messadi forged the intellectual identity of post-independence Tunisia.
