Palm fiber fan
This visual illustrates a “Palm fiber fan”, an inseparable object of the oasis art of living in southern Tunisia. Made from young dried and braided palm fronds, this fan features colorful geometric patterns reminiscent of traditional weaving. Beyond its practical function for facing the Saharan heat, it testifies to the creative richness of oasis craftsmanship, where each part of the palm tree – “the blessed tree” – is exploited with talent. The stamp underlines the finesse of this manual know-how which combines popular aesthetics and adaptation to the climate.
