fig (Ficus carica)
This visual presents the fig (Ficus carica), one of the most sacred and ancient fruits of the Mediterranean basin. A symbol of fertility and generosity, the fig occupies a central place in the Tunisian diet, whether it is eaten fresh in summer or dried (“chriha”) during winter. The stamp pays homage to a rustic tree which populates coastal gardens as well as mountain terraces, embodying the sustainability of rural traditions and healthy gastronomy inherited from Antiquity.
