Children's Drawings: Spring

Created by student Mustapha Gader, this stamp illustrates a butterfly with brightly colored wings flying over flowers. Although the theme is “Spring” in the biological sense, its publication in 2011 inevitably resonates with the “Arab Spring”. The butterfly, universal symbol of metamorphosis and rebirth, here represents the transformation of Tunisian society. This child's work thus becomes an allegory of emerging freedom and the beauty of a future that we hope will be flourishing and full of color after a long period of lethargy.
