Traditional Tunisian Pottery: The Couscoussier of Sejnane
This program celebrates Sejnane couscous maker, a pottery hand-modeled by women from northern Tunisia, whose know-how is listed as UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage. The illustration highlights the typical red and black patterns, applied with natural pigments, which tell the story of the community and its connection to mother earth. By presenting this essential utensil for the preparation of the national dish, the stamp pays homage to the feminine genius and the persistence of a primitive modeling technique which defines the Berber identity of the region.
