Testour (Ancient cities of the Mediterranean)
This program promotes the town of Testour, jewel of the Medjerda valley famous for its exceptional Morisco heritage. The visual presents a panorama of the city of white houses, flanked by the famous minaret of the Great Mosque whose unique architecture recalls the Andalusian style. The presence of pomegranates in the foreground symbolizes the agricultural fertility of the region and the know-how introduced by Andalusian immigrants in the 17th century. The stamp thus celebrates the richness of Tunisian cultural mix and the preservation of an urban aesthetic where the history of refugees from Muslim Spain has shaped a lasting local identity.
