Hédi Jouini (1909-1990)
This stamp pays tribute to Hédi Jouini (1909-1990), the “troubadour of Tunisian song”, illustrated here with his favorite instrument, the lute (oud). With a repertoire of several hundred songs mixing malouf, popular rhythms and Mediterranean influences (such as paso doble), Jouini has reached all levels of society. This program celebrates an immense artist who sang of love, woman and homeland, forever remaining one of the most beloved and representative voices of the joy of living and Tunisian musical identity.
