Sites and monuments: Mosque of Tozeur

Tozeur, a historic city in southern Tunisia, is home to several mosques remarkable for their unique terracotta brick architecture, typical of the Jérid region. The mosques of Tozeur are distinguished by: Tozeur brick: An artisanal ocher-colored brick laid in relief to create diamond and chevron patterns, reminiscent of Berber carpets. Square minarets: Often decorated on all their faces with these same bricks in relief.
