Birds of Tunisia - gambra partridge

This stamp highlights the gambra partridge (Alectoris barbara), an emblematic bird of Tunisian wildlife and a living symbol of the country's arid and mountainous ecosystems. Through this naturalist illustration, the Tunisian Republic celebrates its rich biodiversity and its thousand-year-old hunting heritage, where this reddish partridge, adapted to the maquis and scrublands of the Maghreb, occupies a special place in popular culture and hunting traditions. The program thus underlines Tunisia's commitment to preserving and promoting its natural identity, recalling that these birds, represented here in their characteristic habitat, constitute not only a precious ecological resource but also a constitutive element of the cultural landscape and the collective memory of rural regions.
