This stamp commemorates the first anniversary of the political change of November 7, 1987, placing the year 1988 under the sign of institutional reform. The illustration is highly symbolic: a firm hand holds a scale in perfect balance, on which rest the books of “The Law” (in French and Arabic). The portrait of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali appears in the inset, underlining the central message of the period: the establishment of a “rule of law”.
